KIRSTI DOUKAS
DESIGN DIRECTOR, DESIGNER MA, GOLDSMITH Kirsti Doukas has a long experience as a designer and design director in jewellery industry. She has gained knowledge of industrial processes during 30 years professional career. Kirsti is a designer, who is always on the lookout for inspiration and is constantly searching for new materials and solutions. She owns Saarikorpi Design Ltd, design agency together with her husband Kristian Saarikorpi. They live and work in Fiskars Village, Finland. Fiskars, which is located about one-hour drive west from Helsinki, is known for its long tradition of craftsmanship. "We look for shapes and solutions that at first glance seem impossible. High quality is important for us. We believe that uniting high quality design, craftsmanship and modern technologies makes, the before unimaginable, products possible. The combination of 3D printing and CNC technology with the traditional techniques of goldsmithery is a source of ongoing inspiration and creates interesting possibilities in design and production." Beside working as a designer Kirsti Doukas has work as a teacher and a consultant in design and jewellery field. During her long career she has participated in numerous exhibitions in Finland and around the world and has been awarded several grants and prizes. Kirsti Doukas graduated from the University of Art and Design Helsinki (Aalto University) in 1994 and from the Lahti Design Institute in 1989. Recently she has completed Futures Studies in Open University of University in Turku in 2015 and Vocational Qualification in Business in Rastor Institute in 2020. At the moment she studies glassblowing at Tavastia Vocational College at Nuutajärvi Glass Village. |
